About Dr. Jacqueline Thea

Dr. Jacqueline Thea is an expert in the field of psychology, healing and shamanic studies. She is also a licensed psychotherapist, dream counselor, a former professional guardian, registered nurse and practitioner of harp therapy. With her background in mental, physical and spiritual health paired with her extensive life experiences, she developed “Wake Up Your Fairy Grandmother Within!: You’re Never Too Old to Be Young at Heart” to help spark joy in the lives of others.

About the Book: Wake Up Your Fairy Grandmother Within!

Dr. Thea believes that everyone has a spirit of joy within but for a lot of people it just needs to be woken up. After losing her beloved dog, she was in terrible grief. Shortly after, she ended up attending a meeting with some very spiritually oriented women. They were older women who wanted to share their blessings. They put their hands on each other's shoulders and asked for their true heart's desire to be granted. When the women put their hands on Dr.Thea’s shoulders, she had a vision of a wonderful feminine figure with a flowing white gown and holding a magic wand. Once she felt this, her grief had transformed into joy. She realized she had been giving a blessing and wanted to pass on this vision of a fairy grandmother who transformed grief into joy. As we age, the hardest things we have to deal with are the losses that we feel such as losing health and friends and family. So it's easy to go into grief and depression. Dr. Thea wanted to write this book to acknowledge that it is hard but we also have a spirit of joy within that we can wake up and help us transform that grief and help us find healing.

Who are the intended readers?

The book is intended for a ‘seasoned audience’, the term Dr.Thea likes to use for an older audience. Even younger audiences are enjoying the message of the book. Grief is something that can hit anyone of any age, so the idea of sparking joy or transforming grief into joy is not just for ‘seasoned citizens’. It is for anyone who is experiencing that kind of emotion.

How is the book interactive?

In the book, Dr. Thea shares many of her own stories but she believes that just reading stories may not be enough. There are many questions in the back of the book that are interactive with the story. It gives the readers a chance to not just read the book and forget about it, but to start asking themselves questions such as:

  • Have they ever had a loved one or a beloved companion come back in a dream or in some other way back into their heart? Do they ever talk about that?

  • Is love stronger than death?

  • What are your beliefs?

It allows readers to do their own thinking or share their thoughts with a group. Talking about it can actually help one connect in a whole new way.

What is the Wild Card?

The Wild Card allows readers to tell their stories of the special moments in life that have sparked joy.  It helps readers find and define their own magic in life.

The Alzheimer's Association

Dr. Thea wrote the book to help people remember their stories but she also recognizes that there are people that can’t remember their stories.  For this reason, she has donated all the money received from the book to the Alzheimer's Association. She does a lot of volunteer work with them and takes the Fairy Grandmother into memory care wards and touches people with her magic wand. It helps to bring that joy to people who may not be able to remember their own stories. She helps spark their imagination of where they are and tries to go into their world.

Your Inner Child

We are effortlessly connected with our inner joy as children. As we get older we get more detached from the things that give us joy. The book allows us to connect with our joy again. This is very important because this inner child is our trust and innocence. As we age, we become delusional and become depressed because we don't have that trust and innocence any longer. But we are able to go back in and reach that inner child and in doing so can make life more fulfilled and allows one to come to peace with all those parts. They're very much a part of who we are, but if we ignore them, they come into our dreams or show up in other ways. To recognize those parts of ourselves and to acknowledge and love them is an important part of our aging process.
